  3. Open ADF top cover and inspect. Check pickup roller for glazing, separation pad for grooving, and paper path for debris. Finger-touch test: surface should feel rough, not slick.
  4. Clean rollers. Use distilled water or 99% isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth (wring dry). Wipe unidirectionally. Never use acetone or gasoline. Air-dry 2 minutes before reinstalling.
  5. Check sensors. Verify original-present flag swings freely; check feed/exit photo-interrupter slots for paper debris.
  6. Print Supplies Status page. Check ADF Roller Kit remaining life. If below 10%, replace kit directly; cleaning cannot restore worn rubber.
Critical: ADF pickup roller and separation pad must be replaced as a set. Replacing pickup roller alone guarantees comeback complaints.

6. Replacement Guide
